This is a portrait of my grandmother, painted from life over a few sittings at the kitchen table. I worked alla prima, aiming to capture not just her likeness but the feeling of being with her — her gentle expression, the way she rested her chin on her hand, and the quiet strength in her gaze. The brushstrokes are loose and expressive, building her features with warm tones and subtle shifts in color. It was important to me that the painting held the rhythm of those moments — the stillness, the closeness, the long family afternoons that pass almost unnoticed but mean everything in the end.
